A friendly little warning from your shorty team, guys…
Be careful about people out there that are after your moneys! There are going to be quite a few beta key scams. We know you’re excited about FFXIV and that you want to be the first to try the game out!
But… We don’t know how many of these beta key sales are actually legitimate. So, we would much rather you stay excited about the game even if you don’t receive a beta key, rather than have negative feelings associated with it before it even launches because someone out there decided to swindle you out of $100!
Stay patient! You know we are!
As seen on the FFXIV Vault forums.
“If” we get some keys, we’ll rather randomly hand it out to one of our readers that comments. You have our word on that one =)

Snap!. First.
On that note, The idea that anyone is going to be able to retrieve beta keys at this point in time is ridiculous. It’s highly likely that beta testing won’t start until late summer, and that their will be a good deal more information leading up to that beta before keys are even created.
Ok, so their giving away beta keys in return for site donations over at ffxivcore? I believe there’s a few folks at SE with some words regarding that.
Um… selling keys? LOL that sounds pretty awful XD. Or maybe they just like being in the spotlight XD last check they copy someone’s stuff lolz
Too bad the good thread on core is locked XD
Seriously Midvalley? Late summer? I don’t know if I can wait that long.
Man the anticipation is really starting to set in now lol
But I like this. It reminds me about how I felt when FFXI was on the way. Man I want to get into Beta bad though x x
As long as you don’t fall for Zyuu’s “beta key sales”.
I know we are all desperate, but just don’t fall for those trap.
Zyuu and the Core have posted an apology and explanation of the events. You can check them out here if you like: http://www.ffxivcore.com/topic/3798-apology/
just a ploy to get attention and hits, when ff14 goes live that core website will disappear along with that waste of space curse which is always getting “hacked” and people in wow lose their accounts
I think it’s so sad that people swindle money from others that just want to enjoy the game. As if there aren’t enough scams in this world to begin with, especially online, they have to tarnish the reputation of the MMOs as well and leave people feeling sour before the experience even begins.
I wanted to Beta Test it pretty bad; however, I’m not willing to risk my hard-earned money on it. Beta Testing is a privilege and if I didn’t get to participate, well that’s the luck of the draw. I’m not going to try to buy my way in, especially when the risk is higher than the reward.
The game will come… and I’ll be here waiting for it.
Amen Ada! Some things are worth waiting for and I think FXIV is one of them! Don’t get me wrong; I would love to get a Beta Key, but if I don’t then I don’t and I can just tell myself that eventually my time will come to play. If I got cheated out of the little money I get from my job then it would just depress me and put a damper on the whole thing anyway, hehe!
Ppl gotta be patient. There is no official word yet. Do not let these guys make a fast buck out of you! As the saying goes “Good things gotta wait.”
“Patience is a virtue” Also hate how people are already trying to scam on this game and it has not even set a release date.
It is mighty amazing that people are already scamming. What surprises me more is that the scams are catching people. It’s about as bad as the SC2 Keys on eBay for 300+ bucks.
Ha! If anyone is willing to risk their money, and possibly suffer some identity theft later, just to play an unfinished beta test after which there are no (announced) character transfers, let them. This is insanity to me; almost as bad as the fact that there are beta slots “for sale” in the first place. Where has everyone’s patience gone?
I can not wait i check everyday for new information
I would be willing to sell my beta enabled account. I was one of the first accepted from Carbuncle server, and have yet to play it more than two times since its a scheduled alpha and not a beta yet! That means you get access from now thru when its released ^^ can email me if interested. michael.duque@live.com
Thanks so much for the heads up! I forget there will be a lot of scams going around for the key. I signed up for beta but did NOT receive the key.
Was tempted to buy a key but I’ll wait for the release instead.
Thanks again!
