New Trailer!
While everyone is all focused on the newly released MMO – Aion, SE have countered all that hype with a new high-res Trailer of Final Fantasy XIV.
There are a lot of details in that video, different customization, hairstyle, looks of armor, guildleves, NPC, environment and various other little objects in the video, but we’ll leave the imagination up to you! However, you can share it though via the comment system

That’s sweet, I’ve been waiting for this one. You always wonder, can they top the graphics from the last time? Hopefully, they can, nobody does graphics like Final Fantasy. Surreal, I guess is the best word to describe it.
Final Fantasy titles were always just good… although that amount of details might not show up in-game, at least we know the cutscenes could be like that =)
I can’t wait to see it comes out too
OMGGGGGG i wonder when the Beta test will start and i wonder if they will let FFXI player get in before any 1 else?
Looks superb.
However, with all the talk of people going to seek riches and glory in this trailer and others, and well as things like referring to the future PC’s as mercenaries and villains in the backstory, you’ve got to wonder…
Is squeenix giving players a friendly nudging over their playstyle in FFXI?
I really think SE is trying to promote the casual gameplay, which I think is an important aspect.
With a fanbase from 2003 (NA release), we are now 6, or even 7 years older. So they are trying to cater their game to fit into their lifestyle of their fan base. Even a high-school kids may be near their end of their college, so Im sure this has gotten to do with it.
Also, games like WoW and Aion really, don’t have a casual aspect. I’m glad Squeenix tackle this area of MMO
and promote it in their trailer.

i really hope that this time around they will implement a pvp system easily accesible from the start, like flagging for open pvp, or duel requests.
even though i swore off mmo’s after the warhammer disaster, i’m quite tempted to see another ff mmo in action.
I really do hope they bring this to the 360.
They’ve already said that there will be no PvP from the start. They didn’t want to have to make PvP only servers and what not. They did say that they plan on adding it in after the launch but not in the start. PvP will not be a major focus of FFXIV. If you were hoping otherwise then sorry but you will be disapointed.
I on the other hand don’t mind at all. If they add PvP in later that is fine with me just as long as it isn’t more of the objective based PvP. I don’t mind if they add some of that in but I don’t think it should be fighting. An arena would be nice for the basic PvP in later updates. It already looks like we will be getting better rewards which is nice hopefully we could get better rewards from those objective based games and an arena as well. Also if they make it where you learn abilities from weapons you wear then most weapons won’t become useless like they do in FFXI. I’d have to say I’m very excited about that.

not think there could be a side card game actually built into the game like 7,8 and 9 rather than a completely different game?? The bit there the hume and galka (forgot the FXIV terms for them) are conversing over some cards all laid out…. that would be cool, a whole new way for elitists to pwn even more….lol
I dont think they’ve mentioned anything about a card game coming out with FFXIV. The cards most likely represent the Guildleves that the Hume is deciding on doing. They are basically quests you can choose to do. Someone correct me if im wrong though ^^
