The good people over at Eorzeapedia just posted news that Amazon.com has put up their preorder page for the PC and PS3 version of Final Fantasy XIV.
The current prices for the game stands at $49.99 for the PC version and $59.99 for the PS3 version. Now, if you are balking at the price here are two noteworthy things to take note of:
1. Amazon is currently offering a $10 Video Game Credit for future game purchases if you preorder Final Fantasy XIII from their site.
2. If the price happens to change between now and the date of release, Amazon will give you the lower price posted on their site.
Also, at the current time of posting, Amazon is currently the ONLY place known to be selling preorders at this moment. We will keep everyone posted when more places will begin to take preorders!
Here’s the preorder link. (PC, PS3 and XBox 360)

Amazon is notorious for using ‘placeholder dates,’ meaning the date they have set may or may not be the actual release date. Just a warning before anyone gets their hopes up.
Would there not be a Pre order on steam? as the FFXI is now released on it?
Zasekal, there is no mention of dates at all; just that you are able to preorder right now from them.
Karl, I am some what doubtful that S-E will put their new game on Steam. I could be totally wrong though. I think we will see more preorders going about once we get a clearer picture as to when it will be released.
I wouldn’t count on any release dates being revealed until least open beta is running.
one can only guess when the release date would be.
my guess is maybe beta starts in april and they release may/june
@Jamie — I dont think they’d have the beta for only 1 month. I’m expecting 3-4 months of beta testing. ..Though i hope im wrong, because I’d love to be able to play during summertime.
They need to get that beta out quick if theyre planning to release this year!
the beta is nothing more than super free advirtising for them.
everyone talk ffxiv since last 3 year and we got what 8 pics /2 vidéo?.
they won’t need more than a month beta just to be sure everithing is perfect.
but at this time i’m sure they know everithing is fine to be released.
so do it releaaase! XD
but i guess date is importante for release an mmorpg like “holiday” is generaly a good date is christmass.
@Ken
A beta testing period is not glorified free advertising — or at least it shouldn’t be. Beta testing is a great resource for both gamers and developers. Gamers get a limited time, free look at the unfinished game before its release (always a good thing). Developers get feedback from the testers, which can be excellent for clearing up bugs, imbalances, and other problems that haven’t been caught by previous testing rounds (or were dismissed by others as low priority). Of course, we’re bound to see patches within the first year of playing, because of the expansive nature and capacity of MMOs. I would expect a beta testing period of around 2-3 months, MAYBE 1-2 if marketing is pushing for a quicker release.
As for the original topic, I’ll probably pick up my copy in person. Free shipping always takes too long, and I’d rather drive to a physical store than overnight the game.
