• Open Beta Test Begins Later Today

    According to an update on the FFXIV Beta site, the Open Beta Test will finally begin later today:

    We would like to take this opportunity to provide an update regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test, which was announced to be postponed on Aug. 31, 2010.

    Along with the completion on investigation and correction of the critical issue, we have decided to begin FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test on Sep. 1, 2010 at 19:00 (PDT).

    Starting on Sep. 1, 2010 at 19:00 (PDT), acquisition of registration code required for FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test will be available.

    We are looking forward to your participation in FINAL FANTASY XIV Open Beta Test! </div>

    For those of you not on military time, that's 7:00 PM PDT/10:00 PM EDT tonight. The link to the beta site is also where people will be able to apply to receive registration codes for the open beta test.

      well im able to start the update patch for it but im so confused at how this update thing goes it looks like its some kind of torrent and it says ill be done in 26 hours! or 26min i cant really tell

      The closed Beta forum said something like: "There will be no Beta Forum for people who registered their own open beta account".

      Sound wierd.. like there will be a closed forum for "real" beta testers but not for us?

      Any news? Open Beta Release time now...

      looks like we all need to obtain a new beta key and active our accounts,
      but http://entry.ffxiv.com still shows the old texts...

      HAAAALP!!! I have the same problem, it says mine will be done in like 5 hours but it's been downloading for almost 24 hours. 30% done. I need it to be done by 7pm PST :( any way to get it sooner/faster?

      i really have no idea after like an hour it pick up with i guess more people on the update from 20kb/sec to 1.1mb/sec so it took 2 hours or so to download

      I got all the way through the login process to only get an error message. :/ Seriously this is like trying to get through the rabbit hole all at the same time.

      3:17am, I clicked apply to join open beta. I logged in and after much page refreshing and waiting I am finally on the beta agreement page.. more refreshing, page not available... so close. I have clicked accept and everything :(

      I used a program called Utorrent to download all my updates, for some reason the FFXIV updater tool was not working for me. Utorrent uses the same trackers and gets it in a 1/3 of the time.

      anyone else raging at the "click here to apply" button?

      Edit: dag nabbit I stopped shooting enforcers and dressing up my dude to click a button fifteen million times to get a chance the page loads.
