• Bonus Item for Final Fantasy XI Players in XIV



    Remember a few months that SE mentioned that there would be some special bonuses for current players of FFXI within FFXIV. Well today that possibility is a distinct reality. Current Final Fantasy XI players with a account linked to their Square Enix Account will receive a trifecta of benefits.

    First off, current subscribers of FFXI who sign up for FFXIV will receive a discount on the XI account, bringing the price down to $7/month. Only one FFXI account per XIV account will receive the discount, so if you have multiple XI accounts you would need more than one XIV account to get the benefit.

    Secondly, a special in-game item for FFXIV in the form of the Hermes' Shoes. Described as being "optimized for heralds and noterunners", these shoes will be available to all characters on an account long as you have an active FFXI account. Movement speed for all the old-school folks perhaps?

    Last, name transfer from XI to XIV is the final benefit to FFXI players coming over to XIV. You'll be able to save your current XI name & bring it over to XIV! Names will transfer to XIV as <XIname> <XIServer> (ex: Kimiko Siren... hopefully they'll let us change the last names as needed).

      So, pay for 2 accounts, and we give you a discount on the new account, but you only get the benefits as long as you are still paying full price for both accounts... Shady SE, very shady.

      Wait... what? That doesn't sound quite right. The FFXI account is discounted to $7 instead of the usual $12.95. I don't quite get "you still paying full price for both accounts" part.

      You only get one discount per FFXIV account and you would need a matching number of FFXIV accounts if you have multiple FFXI associated with the Square Enix account.

      Apologies, I misread that, and assumed the discount was on the 14, hence my ire~

      Your Square-Enix account can add multiple service. Therefore, first thing is you must ensure you signup for a Square-Enix account.

      After that, you will have to login, and "link" your Square-Enix account to your POL account. This will link SquareEnix Account with FFXI.

      Now when FFXIV comes out, you will be buying your game, entering your cd-key (i am guessing), via Services --> Add FFXIV, you enter your CD-KEY there and there, you've now attached the Square-Enix with FFXI and FFXIV account.

      Hope that clarifies the "merge".

      When you link your account - it just shows on the SE account management page as POL linked and nothing about XI, right? Just want to make sure I did it right. Kitty needs a new pair of vroomshoes!
