• FFXIVBlog Podcast Ep 1: Noobs on boobs and other initial thoughts

Check out our girls, Calaera and Xariana as they debut in the first episode of our official podcast. They talk about their initial thoughts and opinions about FFXIV and there is even a little boob talk thrown in for good measure. I think that's fairly worthy of our very first showing, don't you? Check out the links below to take a listen.

Nice job on the podcast, I remember Xariana from Fenrir. :D

Haha, Xariana never spoke on Vent back then, and now you hear her on the podcast! hahaha :D

To be honest there's a real lack of interesting and knowledgeable women podcasting these days. that's part of the reason why I suggested to Calaera that both of the hosts be women instead of dragging me into it. D: I have to say I'm really pleased with the results. Both Calaera and Xariana sound knowledgeable about what their talking about and you can learn a lot just by listening. They also have their own distinct personalities and that makes it doubly interesting to listen to. Now we just need a great name and we're all set!

Ya, trying to find a name for our podcast was tough... I think we are on our third for fourth name now (CrystalCore) at least it's a good name and I don't plan on changing it anytime soon.

Going to listen to the podcast now. Welcome to the FFXIV podcast world, glad to have you! :)

Ok, loved the show. Great job! And never ending story, great reference. I haven't thought of that movie in years. ;)

As for the boob talk, I'm a fan of natural, and as my wife says anything more then a handful is just a waist. :)

Yeah, the name Crystal Core is pretty cool! I actually like all the names used so far by the other podcasts, so its really hard now to create something cool for ourselves! Hopefully we will get one sooner or later. ;) But thanks for the welcome! Its really exciting knowing other podcasters are giving us a listen!

I personally think we have a ways to go, but I do hear you on the lack of strong women podcast hosts. No offense to the men; I love your voices and all but sometimes I just want to hear something from a strong, competent woman. Its something I am personally not sure I can do myself, but I'm trying and am glad that we have someone like Xari to sound non-bubbalicious. Mm, I think I need some gum now~

Take your time and don't rush it, and yes, I agree with the fact it's nice hearing another perspective, I for one am always interested in how others see it. My wife, I know, really enjoys playing with me, but wouldn't do this on her own.

As for podcasting, your quality was great. What do you use to record? :)

I use GarageBand, and I'm glad you've checked out my show. Keep up the great work, looking forward to your next show. :)

Xari uses something on a more professional level (I think) because her boyfriend does other recording and music related things. In fact, he is the one who created our opening song! For myself I use a usb cardioid condenser mic. :)

Hey, thanks for stopping by, delmontyb. Your podcast is definitely good stuff (with a good name), I appreciate the listen~ And thank you thank you for getting my Neverending Story reference! >^.^<

We just use Call Graph for recording and Audacity for editing. Propellerhead Record is available should we need advanced help (and for music composition) but Audacity seems to get the job done. The mic is a ridiculous AKG C414 studio condenser mic, purchased (not by me!) with recording group musical performances in mind, but I hijack it for podcast purposes. :)

Calaera - I'm glad you're you! Nobody would want to listen to seriouskat podcast >.<

And Scragg - Great seeing you here~

Nice to listen to another FFXIV podcast. A couple of quick podcast title suggestions:

Ah... I do what I can ;) Loved that movie as a kid even though it's been years since I've watched it, I still have fond memories.

And nice equipment, glad you have access. I wish I could get a mic like that for some of my quests, and hopefully I'll have a new computer here in the next month or two before XIV comes out so I won't have to worry about hard disk space. Ugh.

      Some possible names:
      The 2 by 7 podcast. (2 x 7 = 14) math joke.
      The weekly Harold. (Sounds cool/professional)
      OddBlog Podcast.
      Kattails

I'd better get back to work, having too much fun thinking up names... I wanted to do something with Eorzea and Crystals (CryEorzea) hum? Na...

Going to check out the forums. :)

Yes! We are currently working on getting it up! I believe its still going under the review process...
    1. Orophen's Avatar
Review process is over and we're now available on iTunes! You can take a look here, or just search for "ffxivblog" in the iTunes store. Don't forget to leave us lots of good reviews! I do need to come up with a new image for the podcast though. The one I did was just something I put together quickly to get the podcast ready for the new site.

Wow, it hasn't been that long since we opened the new site but it really seems like a long time ago. Weird.

I tried downloading the podcast on my Ipod yesterday. In the 1st search it came up but said there is an error while downloading. The 2nd search didn’t find the podcast at all. I haven’t tried today. Just wondering... does it get deleted after a certain amount of time?
    1. Orophen's Avatar
Hrm, I'm not sure what the problem could be on your end. Doing a search for ffxiv or ffxivblog brings up the podcast in iTunes search results, and it downloads just fine for me on two different computers. Maybe there was a problem with iTunes servers at the time you tried to download it. If you are still having a problem, I'll look into it.
